Absinthe alcohol is one of the most contentious drinks in history.  Absinthe is a highly concentrated alcoholic drink - a complex mixture of many herbs such as absinthe, hyssop, angelica root, fennel, licorice root and anise seeds. The mixture of the different herbs provides a smell typical to Absinthe drinker.

Absinthe has a traditional ritualistic preparation before drinking. To absinthe drink, one must have all the necessary equipment, because the preceding ritual is an essential part of the process.

Proper preparation consists of placing a sugar cube on a special Absinthe spoon with holes, and slowly dripping cold water over the sugar into the special wide mouthed Absinthe glass.

This is done so that the oils of the anise and fennel herbs do not mix with the water, but come out in the absinthe alcohol content in the absinthe to form a colloidal solution with the cold water, and creating a stunning cloudy effect called “louche”. Dissolve 5 parts of water for one of absinthe.
